In case u haven't heard.... Perl on GoogleAppEngine could be around the corner soon! http://brad.livejournal.com...

Yikes getting double visions seeing Sub::Called on CPAN ;-) search.cpan.org/~reneeb/Sub-Called-0.02 & search.cpan.org/~ovid/Sub-Called-0.01
Going to have to bite the bullet now and do my self return tax form ;-(
@flbone re: Twitter. I believe they just use one DB for writes and then have 2 DB's replicating off this (IIRC on Twit this week).
@flbone re: Twitter. I believe the issues are in this order... 1. Badly designed, 2. MySQL & then 3) Rails.
@flbone Oh and don't take that as a bad thing. MySQL ideal for most web apps.
@flbone re: PG Issues. From what I've seen and read the MySQL issues list goes on forever! MySQL is just MS-Access for the web methinks!
@flbone re: CVPMT. The Postgres I set-up was out of the box and never perf tuned.
@flbone But they use multiple MySQL DBs to "scale".... not a single DB. Check out Twitter for single MySQL (with replicants behind) ;-)
@flbone re: Postgres / 2PB... well they couldn't choose MySQL because i) License & ii) It scales like pushing diarrhoea up a hill ;-)
@flbone re: "a gig?". Yep... here in East London @ Victoria Park. Was birthday present for the wife. We're both big Radiohead junkies!
Wow!!
I am at radiohead!
Bit more info on that 2 petabyte db... http://www.flickr.com/photo...
Thats a big PostgreSQL database! http://tinyurl.com/5k4pew
@flbone Don't think Debian likes Perl! Their package description says "...A scripting language with delusions of full language-hood..."
And after spending a lot of time yesterday installing Catalyst & setting up a CPAN Mini... Its finally time for some Perl coding. Woohoo!
Years of Apache config osmosis finally works as I've just set-up virtual hosts in a scratch httpd.conf recording a personal best time ;-)
@flbone And the occasional air crash!
Fly by over my back garden! Unfortunately its for the Queen and not me ;-( http://www.flickr.com/photo...
