@pjnet Headshift has a list of social software case studies here: http://www.headshift.com/pr...

colinschlueter @agehret Enscheidend ist der Ort der Leistung. Und nach §3a (4) UStG gibt es eine Liste von Leistungen die als beim Kunden erbracht gelten.
colinschlueter @agehret software belongs to the client (in the UK), so i'll argue that "place of supply" is in the UK which means NO VAT
colinschlueter thanks again @Gernot, @papascott, @thobu, @Christiane, @markng, @agehret, @cazm, @patroqueeet, @larsz and everybody else who helped with VAT
colinschlueter @Gernot fine, that applies to me as well. consensus seems to be on NO VAT within the EU then.
colinschlueter for goods it seems to be clear: no VAT. for services it's complicated (UStG §3a Abs. 4). not sure what's correct for programming.
colinschlueter to clarify: i am in Germany, invoicing a UK client for programming. i know their VAT-Id. Do I charge (german) VAT?
colinschlueter thanks for all VAT advice so far - unfortunately it doesn't seem to be so simple. lots of conflicting answers.
colinschlueter tax help needed: if i am (from germany) invoicing a UK company for programming services - do I have to charge VAT or not?
colinschlueter just bought my http://www.singularity08.com/ ticket. very much looking forward to it - congrats @aral !
colinschlueter ok, startup or not startup is the question. difficulties to decide whether it's worth the risk.
colinschlueter off for a full day of meetings.
colinschlueter seriously considering a tech lead position at a new startup. any last-minute alternative opportunity for a rails rockstar I should know of?
colinschlueter @tommorris that's freaking awesome. CWL FTW!
colinschlueter voting for @redsoda's proposal here: http://www.changethis.com/p... - check it out and vote, too!
colinschlueter back in berlin after fantastic days at reboot10 in copenhagen. big decisions to take in the next few days.
colinschlueter #reboot10 almost over. "freeing social networks" talk went really well. now jyri on "The Emerging Real-Time Social Web".
colinschlueter #reboot10 day 2. david recordon on building the open web right now.
colinschlueter reboot10 is starting!
