So the reason I've been MIA since Sunday is because I've been totally laid up with a bad sinus infection. Still feeling pretty miserable.
These 3 days in Morehead KY have felt like 3 weeks - in a good way. I'm sad to leave, though I'm looking forward to sleeping in my own bed.
I've decided that my ccolleagues who teach middle school orchestra are really the unsung heroes of the string world.
This chamber music reading is going to start with a duet for violin and tuba! I've never done a duet with tuba before!
Played assemblies for some wonderful kids, grades 6-8, K-2, 3-5, now on to a chamber music reading with college students and teachers.
Don't know if I am jet-lagged or just EXHAUSTED, either way I'm going to crash.
Already done: lecture on philanthropy, master class, Q&A with students, recital. Now a banquet and then a session for traditional musicians.
Off to a 12-hour day, the first of my 3-day residency at Morehead State U.
London to Morehead KY... definitely adding this to my list of fav back-to-back gigs with Salzburg to Fort Wayne and Iceland to Little Rock.
Just landed at O'Hare ... but only to change planes from London to Cincinnati (then driving to Kentuky). Many travel hours yet to go.
Feeling nicely rested, off to rehearsal - it will be nice to see the Royal Phil musicians again.
A dark and rainy day in London, but it's still a great city to be in nonetheless. Tomorrow's rehearsal is at 4:30, so no jet lag worries :)
On a plane about to fly to London, my 3rd trip to Europe in a month.
Still have Korngold themes running through my head, love that last night's hall was a 1930s Warner theater.
From 12:05-12:45pm Eastern time, I'll be performing and talking live on www.wqln.org - hope you can listen!
Now that Obama won the election will he please start tweeting for real? I'm still waiting for the post saying he's off to shoot hoops etc.
Landed in Cleveland, have to get bags, get rental car, drive to Erie, Pennsylvania. Will be 3 more hours before I can practice.
Feeling happy seeing all the happiness on Facebook (didn't realize I seem to have no Republican friends - or maybe they're just being quiet)
Used my cell to phone bank all afternoon, battery's about to die, so no more updates from me til I get home to the internet, sorry guys.
Chatting about the opera Margaret Garner which I had the great pleasure of hearing on Sunday with Denyce Graves (libretto by Toni Morrison).
