@kastner I think your reply storm shows our enthusiasm 4 Gaiman here. Maybe similar w/Stephenson ("Diamond Age"), Palahniuk ("Survivor") : )

@cadadia guau -- now I know my 2 favorite things in Spanish: caballo y helado (did I use "y" correctly?)
@chrisspurgeon oh, sure, if you want to take the EASY way to getting ppl to meet ; ) Yes, way bigger name tag fonts (& print on both sides).
@kastner my favorite Gaiman novel is still Neverwhere.
Anyone who wants to see first-hand how a conference can inspire interaction/meeting needs to include Webstock (NZ) in their research budget.
Went to 8 JavaOne's--including "peak" years w/ well over 10,000+ attendees. John Gage often brilliant @ getting us to meet. Tried things.
@ryancarson the conference intro session can help a lot if it gets ppl interacting. Yes, even the silly "meet the 2 ppl next to you" works.
@ryancarson re: getting ppl @ conferences to meet--events where ppl sit in groups @ round tables often better than chairs all facing front.
@NathanBowers Thanks for link to the Rich Girls (w/old skool skate/surf) video--made my night. Fabulous, especially the last third ; )
And another learning-Spanish-on-Twitter account: @aprende_espanol Thanks so much @cesararevalo and @cadadia! Awesome.
Guess I'm looking for really, really, really Lightweight Learning. For things where I'm not (yet) motivated enough to put in *real* time...
SO in love with Twitter right now--took exactly 6 minutes for someone to step up! Fellow learners, follow new @cadadia (1st puzzle is name)
OK, my Spanish-speaking friends... hope 1 of you will help us out. Think of it like making a tiny daily puzzle for us, from simple words.
@ccarfi @anniemal @lauratex I figure 140 chars is about all I'd be willing to work out. Learning in ludicrously small bytes==low barrier.
I want to learn a little Spanish, via Twitter. Hoping someone will start a Twitter accnt just for VERY basic Spanish tweets I can learn from
@zefrank twice I've been attacked by dogs whose owners swear "would never bite a soul!" The sci-fi community says 75% chance I'm an alien.
@mraible can't answer Win vs. Linux "natives", but don't get Skyler started on being raised in a static vs. dynamic programming lang. home
@jmreidy Mac/PC conversion is interesting... Skyler made a "switcher" video in high school: http://tinyurl.com/3ltrp
Totally non-scientifically, my daughter swears she can tell the diff between a kid who grew up in a Mac home vs., you know, a PC house.
@briansolis re: "millennials", diff between 1978 vs. 1988 (let alone '98) is too dramatic to make that label helpful (let alone predictive).
